Year round pond care
Description
In order to optimally care for the pond all year round, it is enough to establish a good action plan and a relatively small amount of work.
Pond spring and summer maintenance
Start the maintenance in early spring: After a cold winter, the pond gradually comes to life. Partial water changes, thorough cleaning of the bottom and pump, and getting rid of mud and leaves from the pond surface will then help to prevent excessive algae growth and ensure a good start to the new season.
The new pond season begins with the beginning of summer. Fish and frogs begin to show up, and plants green the bottom, surface and sides of the pond. Even if such lush vegetation suits you, be sure to trim the vigorously growing plants! Only then will underwater plants be able to develop and supply the water with oxygen. Check the filter and analyze the quality and chemical composition of the water. Also try to keep its flow constant, in hot weather you can add some fresh water to the pond.
The end of the year
Autumn brings peace to the artificial biotope of the garden pond. However, you need to prepare it in advance for the upcoming winter!
Leaves falling from trees and plant parts withering damage the water quality. After the pump has been spotless., it should be put outside the pond in winter.
